Enabled for Life: Ready to Work
Rock Resources Reloaded Program seeks to enable youth towards attaining a healthy and productive life while instilling job readiness skills into the lives of Hamilton’s youth.
In April 2011 World Vision provided funding and expertise in the redevelopment of Rock Resources Reloaded which has accumulated important learning through strong relationships with funders and key informants to develop current programming in 2016 and continue to adapt to meet the needs of youth in Hamilton.
Together, the common vision for youth has combined a synergy of the Living Rock’s practical expertise and World Vision’s organizational development strength.
Using a “work-to-earn” model, the Rock provides incentives for youth to engage in one-to-one weekly meetings with a coach, skill building workshops and work crews aimed at readying them for entry level
employment. Food services, retail merchandizing and sales, inventory control and cleaning work crews are opportunities to teach the basic skills for employment.

“As a person who struggles with mental illness, I tend to feel useless and unproductive more often than not. Helping out with cleanup after the breakfast program has strengthened my (unfortunately low) sense of self-worth.” -Youth
